Christmas Glitter Jars
When I worked as an Elementary School Counselor, I rotated my glitter jars and homemade playdough with the seasons and holidays. In the fall, I kept Apple Glitter Jars or Halloween Glitter Jars on the shelf for kids! In December, I put out Christmas Glitter Jars, such as the Santa, Christmas Tree, and Gingerbread Man jars pictured below.
Follow along with our step-by-step directions and video tutorial so you can make your own. They make a great stocking stuffer or Secret Santa gift!

Step 1: Add Water to the Jar
Pour 1/2 cup of distilled water into a 16-ounce mason jar. I almost always use glass mason jars for my stress relief jars, but if you prefer, you could use plastic jars or bottles instead.

Step 2: Add Clear Glue to the Jar
Add 1/2 cup of clear Elmer’s Clear Liquid School Glue to the mason jar.
Step 3: Add Glitter and Confetti to the Jar
Add 2–4 teaspoons of shimmering craft glitter and/or confetti to the jar. We enjoy our glitter libraries from Hand Made Modern and Martha Stewart Crafts.
Step 4: Top Off the Jar with Water
Fill the remainder of the jar with distilled water, leaving about 1/2 inch of space at the top of the jar. Wipe any drips on the rim with a paper towel.
Step 5: Seal the Jar and Shake
You may wish to squeeze a ring of hot glue or water-resistant super glue around the lid of the jar. Press the lid onto the jar and secure it with the metal ring.
After the glue has cured, shake the jar and enjoy watching the glitter swirl to the bottom.
