Yellow leaves swirl in the wind, tattooing the exterior of our wet car. Wrapped in a faded sweatshirt, I feel the simultaneous warmth and chill in the air that only autumn can bring. My boys pick the leaves off the car, marveling over the sudden burst of new season. Halloween is coming. They speak of costumes and candy, of pumpkins and corn mazes. “Do we have any bubbles, Mommy?” my oldest suddenly asks as he shreds a brown leaf with his fingers. He holds the broken bits of leaf in the palm of his hand, allowing the wind to suck them up into the grey sky.
We do have bubbles. Colorful purple bubbles and Halloween Bubble Wands that I’ve been saving for a fall day just like this one. The boys screech with excitement when I bring them out.

Halloween bubble wands are incredibly easy to make. Simply wrap wire (I prefer white bell wire or jewelry wire) around Halloween shaped cookie cutters and twist at the bottom. Slide the twisted wire into the gaps of a cinnamon stick to use as a wand.
When the bubble wands are finished, bring them outside and arrange an invitation to play with bubble solution, mini pumpkins, and fall leaves. I used vibrant purple Crayola bubble solution that I found on clearance at Joann’s—perfect for Halloween! Embellished with orange and black ribbons and paired with a small bottle of bubble solution, these bubble wands would make a great Halloween party favor for kids, as they are quick and inexpensive to make.
The bubble wands held their shape and produced small to medium sized bubbles. The purple bubble solution coated the bell wire, giving it a seasonal, spooky glimmer. The solution was so strong that my youngest soon discovered he could bounce the bubbles off his gooey, purple finger-tips!
Of course, my little Batman fan had a preference for the bat bubble wand . . .
. . . which left my oldest with both the pumpkin and ghost bubble wands to enjoy!
The boys blew bubbles until it began to rain again. What a colorful, spicy, fall activity! I just know you’ll love it too!
