Apple Craft for Preschoolers
Cut and paste crafts are some of my favorite activities to do with toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergartners because they’re simple, hands-on, and packed with learning opportunities. With this apple craft, kids get to practice fine motor skills as they color, cut, and glue the pieces together. Kids will love adding details like eyes, stems, and leaves, and parents and teachers will love that it builds important early learning skills.

Directions for Preschool Apple Craft
This printable craft is designed to be easy for preschoolers to follow with a little guidance. Here’s how to put it together:
STEP 1: Print the template. Download and print the free apple template on white cardstock. Our pattern boasts thick lines which are easier for toddlers and preschoolers to cut.

STEP 2: Add color. Use crayons, markers, or paint to color the apple. We used our favorite Crayola Washable Paint. Use whatever colors inspire you!

STEP 3: Cut the pieces. Invite your child to cut out the pieces. Toddlers may need extra help with this step.

STEP 4: Glue it together. Use a glue stick to attach the stem, leaf, reflection, eyes, and cheeks to the apple. Now you have a fun little apple friend!

Take It Further
This apple themed craft can be used in so many fun ways beyond the basic activity. Try one of these simple extensions:
- Apple tree craft: Print several apples and glue them onto a large paper tree. Perfect for classroom doors or bulletin boards!
- Sorting and learning: Make apples in red, yellow, and green, then invite kids to sort them by color.
- Counting practice: Number each apple’s leaf and line them up in order.
- Storytelling: Encourage kids to give their apple character a name and tell a story.
- Fine motor boost: Tear tissue paper into small pieces and glue it on top of the apple for added texture.
- Make it a card: Print two copies and cut out one extra apple shape—don’t decorate it. Staple it behind the decorated apple to make a fall card.
- Pair this craft with a book: Try Apples, Apples, Apples by Nancy Elizabeth Wallace.
