12 ozblueberriesstemmed and washed
1cupwhite sugar
Instructions
Make the lemonade base: Pour the water and lemon juice into a large pitcher. Mix well.
Cook the blueberries and sugar: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the blueberries and sugar. Stir gently as the mixture begins to warm and the berries start to release their juices.
Simmer: Continue cooking the blueberry mixture, stirring occasionally, until the berries begin to burst and break down—about 10 minutes.
Strain the syrup: Place a fine mesh strainer over a bowl or directly over your pitcher. Carefully pour the warm blueberry syrup through the strainer to remove the seeds and pulp. Use the back of a spoon to gently press out all the flavorful liquid. Discard the solids.
Mix the lemonade: Pour the strained blueberry syrup into your pitcher with the lemon juice and water. Stir well until everything is fully combined and the lemonade turns a beautiful shade of purple. Give it a quick taste and adjust with more lemon or sugar if needed.
Serve and enjoy: Fill glasses with ice and pour in the blueberry lemonade. Garnish with fresh lemon slices or a few extra blueberries.
